THASEF Leads Community Clean-Ups Across States

Volunteers in Rivers, Lagos, Ogun, and Imo take bold steps towards cleaner, flood-free communities.

In its renewed commitment to environmental sustainability and community health, The Healthy and Sanitized Environment Foundation (THASEF) has continued its series of clean-up exercises across Nigeria, with Rivers, Lagos, Ogun, and Imo States recording impressive participation during the month of August 2025.

In Rivers State, the exercise took place in two locations. At the Alakahia axis of the East-West Road by UPTH Junction, Thasef volunteers led by South South Coordinator Chief Richmond Chinda braved the early hours of Saturday, August 16, commencing work at 6:00 a.m. and rounding off at 7:30 a.m. Although no government officials were present, passersby expressed admiration, with many snapping photos of the volunteers. On the same day, another team led by the Assistant Secretary of THASEF Rivers State Mrs Ijeoma Charity under the PHALGA Zone conducted a similar clean-up at Harbour Road in Port Harcourt Township. Volunteer members participated, working from 8:10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., after which a group photograph was taken. Organizers described the exercise as “hitch-free” and credited God for the favorable weather.

In Lagos State, the clean-up was held in Surulere Local Government Area, at Omololu Road, Obele Odan CDA, Ward F3. Led by Lagos State Program Coordinator Mrs Anyanwu Theresa, the exercise, which commenced at 11:30 a.m. and concluded by 1:30 p.m., saw members in active participation. The team emphasized the importance of maintaining a flood-free environment as a key outcome of their activity. Notably, Hon. Adedoyin Oyekunle, Councillor representing Ward F2, joined the exercise, lending government support to the effort.


In Ogun State, the clean-up was conducted on Saturday, August 13, at the Shapon Post Office area in Abeokuta, the state capital. The exercise began promptly at 7:00 a.m. and ended by 7:30 a.m., with THasef volunteers members taking part. Though no government officials were present, the State Program Coordinator, Dr. Jubril Omoyayi and South West Coordinator Hon Saka Babatunde granted an interview at the end of the exercise, stressing the need for sustained efforts to move THASEF’s vision forward.

In Imo State, the clean-up exercise was carried out at Ama JK Douglas Road, Owerri. Activities kicked off at 6:30 a.m. and concluded at 9:45 a.m., with Thasef volunteers participating. At the end of the exercise, the Executive Director, Agu Eusebius Uzoamaka, and Project Director Dr Lopez Neadibia briefed the press on the significance of the program.

Across the participating states, THASEF volunteers expressed satisfaction with the success of the August clean-up drives, pledging continued commitment to building a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for all.
